A man crossing a Long Island roadway was killed overnight after being struck by two vehicles, including one that fled the scene. It happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday, May 5 in New Cassel. A man was crossing Prospect Avenue near State Street when he was hit by a 2015 BMW traveling westbound, Nassau County Police said. The driver of the BMW, a 27-year-old man, remained at the scene. Trooper Dies During Training: Officials
A New Jersey State Police trooper has died suddenly, the department said. Trooper II Marcellus E. Bethea, who worked in Troop D at the Moorestown station, died during training, Colonel Patrick J. Callahan said. Bethea was an eight-year NJSP veteran and was a member of the 156th State Police Class. South Windsor Woman Accused Of Keying Car At Stop & Shop
A Connecticut woman was charged with criminal mischief after she allegedly keyed a car in a grocery store parking lot. Hartford County resident Mimi L. Fluharty, age 62, of South Windsor, was arrested on Tuesday, April 30, for an incident in February at the Stop & Shop at 1739 Ellington Road in South Windsor. According to Lt. Mark Cleverdon of the South Windsor Police, Fluharty turned herself in to police after being caught on video surveillance causing the damage. She was released on a $1,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 15.
